I Don’t Know
…but that’s nothing new. I’ve always bitten off more than I could chew. When I was 14, my Boy Scout troop took a trip to the BSA ranch in Philmont, New Mexico. On the way, we stopped at a steak house (clapclapclap – deep in the heart of) Texas where, to prove that everything was bigger (clapclapclap – deep in the heart of) Texas, your whole group’s meal was on the house if one of your party could eat a 72-ounce porterhouse. That’s four and a half pounds of beef.
No one ever accused me of being a skinny kid, and I thought, I can eat that, and then everyone gets to eat steak for free and I’ll be the husky hero of this story! I asked myself, deep in the recesses of my brain, Is this a really bad idea? And my brain answered back, Shut up! Do it! Do it! Do it! That’s the voice I always listen to.
I ordered the porterhouse.
Have you ever had the meat sweats for a solid week? Have you ever been in a comfortably air-conditioned room, but you were sweating so much you wondered if you needed a life jacket? Have you ever avoided Brazilian steakhouses because you have porterhouse traumatic stress disorder?
We didn’t eat for free that night. Hell, I didn’t even come close.
You’d think I would remember that porterhouse every time I get a bright idea, but I don’t.
Instead, I continue to bite off more than I can chew. Last year, I got a wild hair up my ass and decided to begin creating and selling smart, occasionally witty, and potentially brandable domain names. I had registered domain names before, but those were FOR business ventures, not AS a business venture. I don’t remember the exact impetus, although I know insomnia had a hand in it, but I sat down at my desk and registered a couple of domains. Here they are:
confirmedtfacts.com
comfirmedfacts.com
Read them again, slowly.
Yep, I’m an idiot.
But I’m not alone. And that’s the inspiration for this blog. Above I have listed two Duhmains. There are thousands of them. Some intentional, some not, but almost always entertaining.
So, join me as I dive down the rabbit hole of human foibles in tech, business, life and all things internet once or twice a week (when I feel like it and am not too busy misspelling domain names). And check out our sponsor, Peachtree.Domains if you need a domain name that is spelled correctly (yes, shameless, I know).
Your domain is expiring.
Don’t let it become tomorrow’s Duhward.
